World Environment Day: Listening to Nature Through Environmental DNA

News > June 5, 2026

For us the purpose of ‘having a day’ is a reminder that protecting our planet starts with understanding it. And for us it starts with uncovering biodiversity. This year’s theme, NowForClimate highlights listening to signals. It’s something we see every day at eDNA frontiers, Curtin University: hits to broad spectrums of biodiversity, telling us that nature already holds a lot of the information we need to make better environmental decisions. We just have to listen.

eDNA traces tell powerful stories about species presence, ecosystem change, invasive risks, and conservation opportunities. As the world focuses on climate resilience and biodiversity loss, eDNA is becoming one of the most scalable, sensitive, and future‑ready tools for environmental monitoring. It’s information helps industry, government, and communities move from reactive management to proactive, data‑driven action.

On this WorldEnvironmentDay, we’re proud to contribute to a global shift toward nature‑based solutions and evidence‑based stewardship. Every sample we process helps build a clearer picture of the ecosystems we interact with — and the ones we risk damaging.
